Early Life & Origins

Born Radric Delantic Davis on February 12, 1980, in Bessemer, Alabama, Gucci Mane moved to Atlanta around age nine and grew up in the city's East Atlanta "Zone 6."

He began rapping as a teenager and, determined to control his own career, founded the independent label LaFlare Records before breaking through.

Breakthrough — Trap House & 'So Icy'

Gucci released his debut album, Trap House, in 2005, helping pioneer the trap subgenre alongside T.I. and Young Jeezy. His profile rose through a flood of mixtapes and the regional hit "So Icy."

After signing with Warner Bros., he released his first major-label album, The State vs. Radric Davis (2009), which went gold on the strength of "Lemonade," "Wasted," and "Spotlight."

Discography & Prolific Output

Few artists have released as much music as Gucci Mane. His catalog runs through Back to the Trap House (2007), The Appeal: Georgia's Most Wanted (2010), the Trap House series, and a torrent of mixtapes, alongside post-prison albums Everybody Looking (2016), Mr. Davis (2017), and Evil Genius (2018).

He also built 1017 Brick Squad into a label that helped launch Waka Flocka Flame, Migos, Young Thug, and 21 Savage.

Comeback, Business & Legacy

After serving a federal prison sentence from 2014 to 2016, Gucci Mane emerged transformed — sober, physically reinvented, and more commercially successful than ever. He published the New York Times bestseller The Autobiography of Gucci Mane (2017) and married Keyshia Ka'oir in a televised 2017 wedding.

Widely credited as a trap pioneer and mentor, he remains one of the most important architects of modern Atlanta rap.
