D4L — Down For Life — was an Atlanta rap quartet consisting of Fabo, Stuntman, Mook-B, and Shawty Lo. They are best known for Laffy Taffy (2005), one of the most commercially successful and critically despised #1 songs in rap history. Built on a minimal snap music beat and lyrics that were essentially incomprehensible, it nonetheless reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and sold over two million copies as a single, perfectly encapsulating a brief moment when Atlanta's crunk/snap scene briefly hijacked mainstream rap.
Early Life
